This book had one of the biggest cliff hangers EVER!!! If you receive a strong and unexpected feedback, say you didn’t expect it and you need to think about it. “It’s him, not me”, “it’s the new update that screwed up everything”, “it’s a set up against me”. Like Lily who climbed over the wall and supposedly got hit by a car actually survived. To control how we feel and act on the feedback, we must control feelings and thoughts. People who are generally unhappy, dissatisfied and with low self esteem take negative feedback harder. I loved Variant, and the cliffhanger ending killed me. Like Lily who climbed over the wall and supposedly got hit by a car actually survived. And then I realized it was from the same writers of Crucial Conversations, a previous book I’ve already plenty lauded and given 5 stars to. The author says that a huge determinant of how we take feedback at an identity level is whether we have a fixed or growth mindset. Oh, what a disappointment. Especially the parts where Benson killed a bunch of robots with a freaking shovel. While not as strong as Variant, I think this was a decent end to the story. I love the Newsflesh world. I may try to type up a full review later. Lately, it seems that the sequels to some of my favorite books last year have really fallen flat. This book had one of the biggest cliff hangers EVER!!! I struggled to understand him and cheered every time the woman started speaking instead (whom I believe is the author herself Sheila Heen). Everybody falls, if you give them enough time.”, Can I read this book first? How to separate appreciation, coaching and evaluation. Entertaining audio. I’m just not sure this story needs it’s own entire book. Typically, I don’t do science fiction and I don’t do YA (except for the Twilight series, which I do so enjoy disliking that I can’t seem to stop reading. Mostly answering for new readers who come across this question, since I expect the library in question has already taken the book back, read or not. What is the bloody end game? People who are generally happy and content and with a high self esteem take feedback better. Deep, Deep Insight Douglas Stone and Sheila Heen touch on the deep psychological triggers here. So I want to talk about her first. With a more resilient identity we don’t have to accept the feedback in any case, but at least we can look at it rationally (and give ourselves a chance at growing). There was a few barke spots in the book but not enuf to stop me from reading it or anything like that. I thought they were incredibly creative. And then, it made sense. NEW NEWFLESH NOVEL! All in all i really liked this book and i would read it again i was really hoping there was more books thow. So how’d we end up here? [throws up a little] This is why I don't do zombie things! If the feedback challenges the idea we have of ourselves, it’s possible it will be highly destabilizing for us and we can either lash back or reject the feedback outright. There are no satisfying answers for the specific mechanics of the school -- why those specific rules? The first thing you need to decide is: do you actually want feedback on your novel, or is what you really want praise? If what you really want is praise, then the best thing to do is use a print-on-demand service like Lulu or Createspace to make up some nice copies and give them to your friends and family. When a character walks in and Benson informs us he wants to bash them in the face, I struggled to remember why. A major component of how we react (and act) on our feedback is the story we tell ourselves about it. Then, this. The ending makes you want to crave for more yet you know this is the last book. Start by marking “Feedback (Variant, #2)” as Want to Read: Error rating book. Variant, the first book was a fun read...I was so excited to read Feedback, thinking there's going to be a really good explanation about the why and history of Maxfield Academy and everyone will get out and get back to the real world. I do wish the book would have ended with a proper ending instead of a cliffhanger but at the same time i like the fact that you get to imagine what happens next. DEFINITELY didn't love this one.
