This was the furthest out that we had ever seen them before & further out of the forest than any of the known families would usually be. They team also shined a spotlight on prairie dogs in South Dakota. We take a look at what you can expect from each episode - and each of the seven worlds... Sir David Attenborough at Stokksnes beach, Iceland (BBC One, Seven Worlds, One Planet). The South America episode aired on 10 November 2019.
Each evening the tamarins would move off toward one of their sleeping trees and we would head out of the forest, not knowing where we would find them in the morning. Each morning just before sunrise, we’d drive out, down a dirt track, to a small patch of forest and begin the hike into our location with all our camera gear.

Currently, you can watch the whole series on. But at only the size of a thumbnail, it was like finding a needle in a haystack and we never would have found them without the keen eyes of our local team. From Siberian Russia to Sumatra in Indonesia, the team capture incredible scenes of Kamchatka bears, golden snub-nosed monkeys, spider-tailed horned vipers, orangutans and the rare Sumatran rhino in their natural habitats. Episode three focuses on South America, the most biodiverse continent on Earth, home to 40% of the world's animal species. But this isn't your average safari.

Gentoo penguins preparing to enter the water, Antarctica (BBC One, Seven Worlds, One Planet).

Next, the film crew head to Asia, the largest and most varied continent on the planet.

The episode also features a puma hunting guanaco, which was filmed in and around Torres del Paine, Chile.

From elephant and rhino to the humble oxpecker, the team traverse the continent in search of its most fascinating creatures. Proyecto Tití are giving hope to these incredible animals.

This was filmed at Iguassu Falls, a magnificent and truly breathtaking sight where the river Iguaçu emerges from dense forest to then plunge over a series of cliffs to create multiple falls that are higher than Niagara and wider than the Victoria Falls.

December and January are witness to wildlife in full swing, with the first penguin chicks emerging, fur seals and whale sightings on the increase as the receding ice opens new water channels. It may be hard to spot in the wild, but it's a relative of the common house cat. They were very unpredictable and each day would bring a different challenge.

When it rains in the jungle, it really rains.

MORE ON AUSTRALIA. We’d follow them all day, every day but like many animals they slept a lot & we’d have only a few hours a day when they would be active.

The future for cotton-top tamarins is worrying.

One day, during a particularly heavy down pour, we were debating waiting it out but the rain just kept coming, and the river was filling up, and rapidly.

Finally, one individual moved down the branches and started checking out the options before bouncing along the posts, freaking himself out and heading back the way he had come.

Most of the wildlife in Australia exists nowhere else on Earth. Families are extremely close-knit and individuals warn each other of danger through alarm calls.

The series begins with a breathtaking look at Antarctica – the least populated place on earth, which humans saw for the first time only 200 years ago - in fact, Irish-born navigator Edward Bransfield is credited with making the first confirmed sighting of the Antarctic coastline (Trinity Peninsula) on 30 January 1820.

We’d often sit and wait for an entire day with nothing much happening but you always had to stay attentive, just in case something super interesting happened.

The crew's most memorable filming moments, The quest to film the elusive brown hyena, How drones helped reveal the wonders of Seven Worlds, A Peek-a-Boo veteran in the jungles of Australia, Finding and filming wildlife in the jungle, Protecting a South American wonder of the world, A sanctuary for the endangered whale shark, The grey headed albatross faces extinction, The Southern Ocean is a globally important carbon sink, An alien invader is colonising Antarctic waters. February and March is the best time for whale sightings and penguin chicks begin to fledge their nests. I’m pretty good with wasps at home in the UK, they’re peaceful things really, as long as you don’t aggravate them by flailing your hands around. Onto North America, the continent that experiences the most dramatic seasonal change. Login. Native to central Spain, the Iberian lynx has incredible eyesight and can spot a mouse from 250ft away. www.lastfrontiers.com/colombia/regions/caribbean, Click here to watch this episode on BBC iPlayer www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000b9f8/seven-worlds-one-planet-series-1-3-south-america. There are seven episodes in total, each looking exclusively at one continent and its rarest wildlife. Crew having raced all the camera equipment back down to the shelter of the car – drowned rats was an understatement! While they could quickly run & jump through the trees, we would have to find ways around inaccessible areas and through the knotted forest. There is also a positive report of how some species of whale are finally making a comeback in the region after the long era of slaughter ended - the southern right whale had dwindled to just 35 breeding females at one point, but now there are more than 1,000. We never pass your details to anyone else. Here, the team watch elephant seals square up to each other, albatross tending to their young, whales, and huge waddles of king and gentoo penguin. As human populations continue to grow, the Cotton-Top Tamarins territories are being squeezed further. At first the jungle just seemed a big tangled mess, but once at the frogs level, you could start picking out the miniature highways, that they would use to get through the forest. Seven Worlds, One Planet originally aired on Sunday evenings at 6.15pm on BBC One.

And it just so happened that the location where we had the best chance of filming the frogs, was in a dried out river bed. Felix and the rest of the Proyecto Tití team have worked for over a decade to try to return the balance between wildlife and humans.

Featured Videos. As one of the smallest primates in the world they were not easy to spot in the tall trees and are vulnerable to many predators. on Sunday evenings at 6.15pm on BBC One. Our friends at the Tambopata Research Centre (TRC) in the Peruvian Amazon helped with the filming.

From October to May, the puma roam far across the mountains in search of guanacos, but in the winter the guanacos congregate on lower ground to graze, making the pumas easier to find.

After rain, it became a little easier, as the males would begin to call, helping us hone down an individual’s location. From Viennese graveyards to Italy's mountainous villages and Slovenia's expansive caves, the team spend time with wolves, Barbary macaques (Europe's only primate), olms, brown bears and the elusive Iberian lynx. They have a sophisticated language of around 38 distinct sounds, which can be used to communicate specifics about a potential predator.

To say we looked like drowned rats was an understatement!

Golden snub-nosed monkeys in eastern China (BBC One, Seven Worlds, One Planet).

There are now good chances of spotting a puma year round and some lodges offer puma tracking experiences.

It would often take multiple trips of around 30mins each way to get all the gear in a position where we were ready to film. The ongoing struggle for space is a complex problem, and one that affects not only Titis, but almost all wildlife in forests across the world. Though significantly bigger than the frogs, no easier to film were the cotton-top tamarins that we set out to find in the dry tropical forests of Colombia. One of the group would either reveal themselves as they came to check us out or, more likely, we would hear their alarm calls. We would follow them as long as possible, before losing them again. They were very unpredictable and each day would bring a different challenge. While filming for the South America episode of BBC’s Seven Worlds, One Planet, we stayed in a village about 2hrs from Tarapoto, in the San Martín District of Peru.
